The 13-year-old dog was diagnosed with arthritis when she was just four, but her owner Ali Cohen, from Surrey, says that it hasn’t stopped her from enjoying her favourite activity of rustling around in the autumn leaves. In the video posted to a golden retriever group on Facebook, playful Darcy can be seen all but disappearing in the huge mound of leaves, with just her excited wagging tail peeking out.
But she soon resurfaces, popping up through the pile with a tennis ball in her mouth and looking very happy about her discovery as her owners cheer her on.

Ali says that Darcy’s tennis ball and big leaf piles are two of the goldie’s “greatest loves in life”, and that getting older hasn’t prevented her from indulging in her biggest joys.
Darcy still loves to play games with her favourite tennis ball, even though she now has cataracts, and Ali says that she “would play catch all day given half a chance”.
When Ali took Darcy to the vet two years ago for her arthritis, she was told that there was “no way she should still be walking”.
But although Darcy now travels to and from the park in her own pull-along trolley to save the strain on her legs, the “determined” dog hasn’t let her condition stop her from having fun once she gets there, as the heart-warming video shows.
“I’m not sure how much longer she’s got, but she enjoys life to the max for now.,” Ali says.
Members of the Facebook group dubbed Darcy’s leaf pile adventure the “cutest video ever”, saying it had “made their day”.
“And what were the chances she’d give up looking for that ball? 0% chance!” one commenter joked.
“Goldens are forever puppies,” another said.Darcy isn’t the only golden retriever to have been enjoying the great outdoors lately.
Fellow goldie Murphy has developed a talent for seeking out muddy puddles whenever his owners take him out on a walk ‑ and loves nothing more than diving into them.
The naughty pup’s owners have compared him to a hippo, as Murphy can’t seem to get enough of wallowing up to his ears in the mud to cool off on a warm day.
